Open Hours*
- Equipment trainings are provided from 9:00am to 12:00pm on weekdays and available on Saturdays as well. Additionally, you can book equipment training during our regular open hours.

The Hatchery is Boston College’s first community makerspace, located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of 245 Beacon St.
The Hatchery Makerspaces are open to all Boston College students, faculty, and staff, regardless of school or department.
Once you have completed The Hatchery online Makerspace Orientation, you will be instructed to sign into QReserve, our booking site. After registering an account, you can book an appointment to be trained on a tool!

The Hatchery hosts events with various on-campus clubs, teams, organizations, and departments. Visit our Collaboration Page for more information.
Tool Training and equipment reservations are canceled if you are 15 minutes late to a booked slot.
If you’re on time for your equipment reservation, you are entitled to use the equipment. If another user is operating the equipment during your reservation, kindly inform them of your reservation, or ask a Hatchery Team Member for help.
Some of our more advanced equipment in The Hatchery requires an understanding of beginner-friendly tools first. In The Hatchery, Tool Training is categorized by levels one, two, and three. Level one training is required to progress to higher-level training.
Tool Training can be booked up to one week in advance. Additionally, It must be booked 24 hours before its scheduled starting time.
If your professor has reached out to The Hatchery, you might be eligible to access Tool Trainings earlier than usual. Please contact your professor directly to find out what arrangements they have made with The Hatchery for your class.
